Angry ambulance workers have walked out for the fourth time in ten days.

Members of Unite at Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) staged a series of five-hour-long strikes in a long running row over their terms and conditions, the latest of which was from 3am to 8am yesterday.

The union, which has about 375 members at YAS, has been in dispute with ambulance chiefs for more than a year after it was “de-recognised” in early 2013.

Fellow union, Unison, which has more than 3,000 of the 4,000 strong workforce, has also bee in dispute with YAS but has not taken any industrial action.

A joint statement from YAS and Unite revealed talks had taken place in co-operation with the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS).

It said: “Serious discussions took place to try and resolve the current dispute and re-build the relationship between the two organisations. “Both parties felt that the discussions were positive and further meetings will be held in due course.”
